Vivienne Westwood SS-2012

CLEVER tailoring with a sculptural twist was the highlight of Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label collection. Think pencil skirt suits with ruffles and shirt dresses with heavy cowl necklines.
It was a collection that delivered plenty of options - from Grecian, draped knee-length party dresses in very wearable black to a complicated but elegant taupe voluminous catsuit - some were sophisticated, such as a black satin cigarette pant cocktail suit; some were more eccentric, such as shirts that looked like they'd been buttoned up wrongly.
There was plenty of glamour and not just from the clothes - Pamela Anderson, Nancy Dell'Olio, Sadie Frost, Erin O'Connor, Kelis and Paloma Faith were all in the front row. The sex factor was upped on silhouettes, with waxed cottons, wet-look finishes on party dresses and sharp tailoring on soft denims.
Closing with a bright scarlet tulle strapless ball gown and a gold dress with a scrunched foil-like metallic finish, Westwood came out to the sound of ZZ Top's Gimme All Your Loving, and the energy stayed high with models running down the catwalk, with Eliza Cummings - in the red gown - scooping up a whooping Charlotte Free who had been struggling in her shoes.
