ABCs PAN AM - Sexy, Sassy TV Show

ABCs new Drama will be on Us screens on Sunday Sept 25th. Set in the golden age of air travel.
An all star cast headed by the beautifully petite Christina Ricci (Sleepy Hollow, Monster), Kelli Garner (Aviator, Lars and the real girl), Margot Robbie ( Australian soap Neighbours). Throw in some gossip, First class air travel and not forgeting thos  blue Pan Am uniforms !
Back then, stewardesses generally couldn't be married or have children and had to meet strict weight standards, but that doesn't mean they lacked substance, said Dan Hagedorn, senior curator at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. Although their sexy looks were intended to sell seats,  they also had to have the right stuff to qualify as  flight crew.
"They had to have their hair perfectly coiffed, makeup just so ... and they were there to look after the safety of passengers from the very beginning," Hagedorn said. "... The white gloves came off when emergencies happened."
The TV series is "based" out of the JFK International Airport in the Jet Age of the early 1960s, when air travel represented the height of luxury and Pan American Airlines was the top name in the field.
This show is all about the buzz," said Stacy Beck, Pan Am Brands director of marketing and corporate development and the project's key negotiator. "We started the conversation with the producer in 2007 when the airline was still (running). Nancy, a former Pan Am stewardess, had a vision for years to make a show that would tell the adventures of working for Pan Am during the Jet Age, when everything was so exciting and people were experiencing things that no one would have the chance to experience again."
Hult Ganis said the idea for the show came from her experiences working for Pam Am from the late 1960s to mid-1970s. "And it was such an amazing adventure and fun," she said. "I always thought they would make great stories, and it was percolating under the surface for a long time. And then the opportunity presented itself about five years ago, and we started to develop it."
The original Pan Am went into bankruptcy in 1991. It was bought in the mid-1990s by a second company and sold to Pan Am Systems in 1998, its current owner. PAS relaunched the airline, operating from Portsmouth International Airport, but closed permanently in 2008.
"Pan Am," the new ABC-TV series beginning Sept. 25
