Game of Thrones

Are you watching Game of Thrones? If the answer to that question is "No", then allow me to ask another : Why the hell not?? HBO, responsible the awesome shows that are Entourage (still waiting on that last season) and True Blood (season 4 starting June 26th, yay!), has done it again in bringing this intricate universe to life on the small screen.

Based on the highly successful books by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones takes place in the fantastical land of Westeros, where seven noble (and not so noble) families fight for the control of the land and its seven kingdoms.
At the heart of the intrigue, and at the top of the noble family food chain, we have the conniving and evil Queen Cersei ("300"'s Lena Headey), her drunken King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy from "The Full Monty", "A Knight's Tale"), as well as King Robert's closest (and possibly only) friend Eddard Stark (Sean Bean, once again donning his left over armor from "The Lord of the Rings").

I don't want to delve too much into the plot of Game of Thrones, not only because it's very complicated, as most good intrigues are, but because it would be an injustice to try and sum it up. It really must be discovered on it's own. So I'll throw a few choice words at you : deceit, murder, blood, sex, incest, Peter Dinklage (Death at a Funeral, the original one and not the crappy and unnecessary remake),
White Walkers, dragons, direwolves, sword fights...

It makes me want to revisit the whole story again! The show has just finished it's first season in the US (it was renewed for a second season after the premiere of the first episode... just sayin'), so for the lucky ones just now discovering it, you'll be able to watch uninterrupted by week long waits until the next episode. The writing and acting are so top notch, that every plot twist will have you gagging for whatever comes next.

Guess I'll console myself with the books whilst I wait for the long winter...
