Skype + Facebook

Skype has been powering Facebook’s video chat  since July, but its new apps for Windows and OS X now let you use the Skype client to directly make video calls to your Facebook friends.
The new interface is really simple. You just link your Skype and Facebook accounts, and your Skype friends list is automatically updated with all of your Facebook friends. You’ll also be able to share screens with your chat partners, which will come in handy when your mom demands you Skype with her because she forgot how to bookmark the new episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
This isn’t exactly offering anything you couldn’t have managed otherwise, but the continued intermingling of the two super widely-used platforms should make it a lot easier to connect for an awkward video chat.

Cardboard memory

Tear off a stick of memory with these functional, eco-friendly cardboard USB sticks. They are capable of storing up to 16 GB a piece and are completely disposable. You can even label them with a pen, since they are just cardboard. It’s a pretty cool creation, although I’m not sure how long they would last if you really wanted to keep them around. It might actually get annoying if the cardboard gets bent out of shape.
If you’re interested in buying it, however, you’re going to have to wait a bit. They haven’t revealed pricing or availability. You can monitor their website at http://www.artlebedev.ru/everything/flashkus/ for any new information.

Samsung NX200

In a radical shift from its predecessor's chic, smooth contours, the Samsung NX200 is designed to appeal to the stealthy street shooter and camera enthusiast. Its no-nonsense blend of curves and hard edges appeals to the eyes as well as the hands. Though I only shot with it for a short time, its build was solid, its features seemed strong, and its performance was crisp.
The Samsung NX200's grip is just right for the size, rising like a swell about to break, there are no dips top to bottom, but the soft leather texture and knurled pad for the fingertips provide ample hold. The only thing to disturb my grip is the strap lugs, which work with D-rings. Though their noise can enter videos, they're apparently popular among camera designers and enthusiasts alike, as they
seem to appear in more cameras these days.

The front shot shows just how serious they are about the design philosophy, at least on the front: the vertical surfaces are all curved while the horizontal surfaces are flat and hard-edged. Typical of Samsung, it's an aggressively artistic design that also works. While the NX100 appeared very artsy and even sensual, the NX200 looks more serious.

Stereo microphones flank the hot shoe, a step up from the NX100's monaural mic. Four speaker holes are nearby as well. A small top control dial is positioned about where it was on the NX200's predecessor. I'd have preferred it a little further forward, as well as a little larger, but I'm glad there's a second dial for greater control. It's labeled in blue for zooming in and out in Playback mode, but it's also used in several modes and menus (exactly what it would control in Manual mode was unsettled on the camera I saw, so we'll comment on that later).
I'm happy to see a power switch surrounding the shutter button. This is the most logical location for a power switch, and seems to be appearing on more interchangeable-lens cameras this year. The Mode dial has some new and unusual icons, and is well-positioned for easy turning. It seemed stiff enough to prevent accidental turning while in a back or large pocket, but we'll have to wait for a shipping model to be sure of that.

Much of the beauty of the Samsung NX200 is beheld in the AMOLED screen. Not only is the image on the screen quite good, the graphical interface is both impressive and well done. More importantly, the animations are fast enough that they don't get in the way.
Controls are reasonably well spaced, but tighter than they were on the NX200's predecessor. The main graphical adjustments are accessed by pressing the Fn button, which brings up the Smart Panel, a menu navigated via the four way and the rear wheel, and options are changed via the dial on the top deck. I'd have preferred the function button to appear where the EV or Menu button is, as it's more frequently accessed than even the Menu button. EV is in a good place, though. You hold it and turn the dial on the top deck. Very natural. And the Record button is far enough from the thumb grip, but is in danger of accidental activation as well.

While walking around shooting with the Samsung NX200, I found it pretty comfortable to use. As I mentioned, the animations were swift and attractive, a very important feature in a camera, where you can't afford to wait for swoopy features when a moment is passing before your eyes.
The NX200 is also packed with special modes and features, most of which I ignored for the time I had the camera. It was handed to me in Burst mode, which threw me for a loop at first, as it started rapidly recording 30 frames per second, at five megapixels per shot. Not bad. The camera doesn't use the focal plane shutter in this mode, instead all you hear are clicks from the speaker as the camera rattles off at high speed. You can get seven frames per second at 20-megapixels, which also isn't too shabby, but of course you can hear and feel the shutter actuating at that speed.
Samsung's i-Function button allows the user to quickly adjust a small range of settings in combination with the focus ring. When pressed, the camera toggles among shutter speed, aperture, EV, ISO, and White Balance. Once you've reached your desired setting, turning the ring adjusts that parameter.
Since we didn't see any image quality examples, and the models we saw were a little rough, we can't say much more before the NDA expires. We're pleased to see the more serious design, though we never disliked the old design, as well as the new lenses available for Samsung's NX series.

The Samsung NX200 will be sold for around €849 euros with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.

Convert, Save and Play Movies on your Apple iPhone and iPad

Sometimes you download a video from the internetand its not always available in the needed format. And ocasionally you need a converter to be able to watch the films.
Sure, there are a lot of converters  online but it is difficult to find the one which is capable of converting, ripping and burning your videos in the commonly used formats like AVI, MPEG, MP4, WMV, ASF, 3GP, 3GPP, MKV, MP3, MOV, QT, VOB, IFO, MOD, DAT, M2T, MTS, VRO, FLV.

Movavi software is the possible solution and and the results are pretty damn good. This software not only converts the videos in different formats for laptops, but it can actually convert videos to a format which is supported by popular devices like iPad, iPod, iPhone, PSP, BlackBerry gadgets, Android tablets and phones.
Converting videos for Apple iDevices was never as easy as it is with this software, it takes only a couple of minutes to convert a full-length movie in a format supported by my iPhone.
Final Verdict -
Movavi is a video converter that can be used to convert videos to any formats, may it be a video downloaded from youtube or may it be a video that you would like to upload on youtube. The converted videos are supported by all popular devices including phones, tablets and laptops. I personally find it best for converting the videos to a format supported by my iPhone, this software gives the best results without compromising with the quality of the video.

A Separate App
On one of the social networking site’s blog, Lucy Zhang, a Facebook engineer has announced Messenger as a separate app through which messages can be sent or received in a one click. People will receive messages in texts and notifications within no time on their smart phones.
She informed that the program can be reached all your contacts, whether at Facebook or on your mobile contact list, just type the person’s name and send it. The iPhone users can easily get this app through App store and android users via the Android Market. Users can get better information on Messenger at Facebook’s help page.

Features of this App
Zhang was the co-founder of Beluga that Facebook purchased in the previous spring season, and it formed the basis for Messenger. It has become so easy to see all the messages in one place, including chats, email or text messages. Actually, Messenger app is an extended version of Facebook messages.
The importance of this app is further witnessed when one is moving, it’s so easy to create a group chat, add your site on the map and find each other. Just imagine! It could be so funny sharing photos on your gadgets and getting the comments about your evening look.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Launches today .

Samsung and Verizon Wireless announced Tuesday that an LTE version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, one of the few tablets to date that critics have called an opponent to the Apple iPad, is available today.

Now the techy bit - The new Samsung tablet features a 10.1-inch touch screen, supports WiFi, runs on Google Android 3.1 (Honeycomb), supports Flash apps and is powered by an Nvidia Tegra2 dual-core 1GHz processor. It has rear and front facing 2-megapixel camera for video chats, 3-megapixel camera capable of recording HD video, 10.1-inch 1280 x 800-pixel resolution display, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, and Google Mobile Services including Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Search, Google Maps, Google Movies, Google Books and Android Market.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab only weighs a mere at 1.25 pounds and is 8.6 Millimeters thin, this tablet with the new 4G LTE feature will give customers download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps in 4G Mobile Broadband coverage areas, it also comes with Adobe Flash 10.3 technology, Samsung Media Hub, and much more.

Fitting so much power and processing capacity in such a small frame requires cutting some corners. Like the iPad 2, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has only one port--its docking/charging port. That means that USB, HDMI, SD, and other ports are missing, and require dongles and adapters just like the iPad 2. If you were hoping for an Android tablet with the ports built in, you should take a closer look.

Personally, I think the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 looks great certainly a rival for the iPad 2. It would be nice to have 4G connectivity, but I don't think this is a great deal due to the contractual commitment and required data plan.

Still, I wouldn't mind trying one out.

Banksy iapp.

Tracking down Banksy pieces in the wild was once a matter of dumb luck or just living in the right bit of London. No longer! The Banksy Locations iPhone app has arrived in the App Store with a huge gallery of his work with their locations plotted out on Google Maps. Tap your current location and the app will show you how close you are to a Banksy

As well as giving you directions to Banksy art, the app includes videos and news updates. We’re not entirely sure how involved Banksy himself was with the creation of the app (we suspect not at all) but if you’re wondering whether he’s been drawn to your manor, it’s a handy way to find out. Once you’ve found a Banksy you want to see in the flesh, the app will give you directions right to it. Just think of it as a graffiti-obsessed tour guide.

Available now for 1,59€

Intel i5 for Apple’s MacBook

Apple will have a high performance power plant for its MacBook which will replace the old one. With Intel’s i5 under the hood speed will be added to a number of MacBook applications.
The techy bit - The i5-2467M (11.6 inch model) and i5-2557M (13.3 inch model) processors will replace the old Core 2 Duo enhancing the functionality and performance of the gadget. Also there is an option for the Core i7 with a small additional fee, the high processor will definitely lead to greater performance balancing the additional cost.

The results of the initial tests performed over these two MBA models show remarkable gains over various applications including iTunes, Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Multimedia Multitasking. The Intel’s current most powerful processors will now empower the Apple’s MacBook with HD Graphics 3000 also added to the chip by the company. Besides the achievements, no RAM upgradation will be possible which is not lucky for the users who are willing to have more memory as stated by the iFixit.
But as far as performance and speed is concerned, new Intel processors will surely add up all the power to the latest MAB models of the Apple.

Facebook adds Skype video chat feature

Facebook has announced a partnership with Skype to add video chat to the social networking site.
The move is likely to be seen as a arrow agains rival Google, which recently launched a Facebook rival, Google+, also featuring video calling.
This is not the first time Facebook and Skype have teamed up - they already share some instant messaging tools.
Skype is in the process of being bought by Microsoft, which is a major shareholder in Facebook.
The new video-call service was launched by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who also revealed that the site now had more than 750 million users.
However, he said that the total number of active users was no longer a useful measure of the site's success.
Instead, the amount of sharing - of photographs, videos and web links - was a better indication of how people engaged with the site, explained Mr Zuckerberg.

"Apple store Artist" gets raided.

The US Secret Service has raided the home of an artist who collected images from webcams in a New York Apple store.

Kyle McDonald is said to have installed software that photographed people looking at laptops then uploaded the pictures to a website.
Mr McDonald said he had obtained permission from a security guard to take photos inside the store.
Apple declined to comment. However, the Secret Service confirmed that its electronic crime division was involved.
Writing on Twitter, Mr McDonald said: "@secretservice just stopped by to investigate [web address removed] and took my laptop. Please assume they're reading any e-mails you send me."
No arrests had been made in the case as of 8 July.

Nintendo price cut? Really!

Nintendo has promised a major Nintendo 3DS price cut across the world. It began by announcing that it was slicing ¥10,000 off the price of the console in Japan but has now confirmed that the US price will drop from $249.99 to $169.99 and the UK price will be cut “by a third”.

The new Nintendo 3DS price will take effect from August 12 but if you’ve already bought one and are feeling miffed, Nintendo has sweetened the deal for you too. Read on to discover how you’ll be rewarded for your faith in the 3D machine…

As well as the price cut, Nintendo says anyone who bought – or buys – a Nintendo 3DS before August 11 will be able to download 20 free games. To register for the reward, you just need to connect to the Nintendo eShop before 12 August. The deal will then be delivered in two installments.

On September 1st, Nintendo will release ten free NES games for early adopters, including Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Jr, Balloon Flight, Ice Climber and The Legend Of Zelda. Other Nintendo 3DS owners will be able buy those titles at a later date but they won’t be able to grab the second lot of rewards.

Nintendo says it will add ten free Game Boy Advance titles to the eShop later in the year and keep them permanently as exclusives for “Ambassadors” (its nifty new name for anyone who buys a Nintendo 3DS before August 11 2011). Those titles will include Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit. Metroid Fusion and Mario vs Donkey Kong.

So there you have it. If you haven’t nabbed a Nintendo 3DS yet, you’ll soon be able to get a bargain but if you’re after the exclusive games you’ve only got a few weeks left to grab one
