An apple for Kristen

The trailer for Snow white and the huntsman is out.

Kristen Stewart ("Twilight") plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to kill her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, "Thor") who was  infact dispatched to kill her.  With a cast including Ian Mc Shane, Bob Hoskins and Eddie Marsan to name but a few we are rather looking forward to this summer  blockbuster fairy tale.

The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of "Alice in Wonderland," producer Sam Mercer ("The Sixth Sense") and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.

Andrew Bird Tour in New 'Fever Year' Documentary

Andrew Bird hasn't released any new material for some time, but that doesn't mean he hasn't stayed busy with a rigorous tour schedule, and not only that soon there will be a new documentary called Fever Year from director Xan Aranda. So I guess we can go easy on our beloved Chicago indie rocker.

"Filmed during culminating months of the acclaimed singer-songwriter's most rigorous year of touring, Andrew Bird crosses the December finish line in his hometown of Chicago -- feverish and on crutches from an onstage injury. Is he suffering hazards from chasing the ghost of inspiration? Or merely transforming into a different kind of animal 'perfectly adapted to the music hall?'" picked off of the films website

Fever Year is expected to make the rounds at the festival circuit later this year, and will make its world premiere at the Vancouver International Film Festival, which runs from September 29 to October 14. A trailer for the film is expected soon.

Anne Hathaway is Catwoman

Warner Brothers have at long last released images of the new Catwoman for coming  Nolan film Batman; The Dark Knight Rises. Annie is the star attraction,

Hathaway is indeed a rather unusual choice but perhaps seeing Anne  in a catsuit, donning leather and latex helped in casting.

Ex-Kula Shaker Crispian Mills to Direct Simon Pegg

Pinewood is to invest in a "psycho-comedy" A Fantastic Fear of Everything, starring Simon Pegg.
A Fantastic Fear of Everything sees Pegg play a children's author turned crime novelist, whose detailed research into the lives of Victorian serial killers has turned him into a paranoid wreck, persecuted by an irrational fear of being murdered.

"When a mysterious Hollywood executive takes a sudden and inexplicable interest in his script, what should be his 'big break' rapidly turns into his 'big breakdown'," reads the studio synopsis. "Jack is forced to confront his worst demons; among them his love life, his laundry and the origin of all fear."

The film is written and directed by musician-turned-filmmaker Crispian Mills, marking his feature debut. Music video and animation specialist Chris Hopewell, whose award-winning work includes promos for Radiohead's There There and The Killers' Smile Like You Mean It, will take a co-director's credit. The film's cast also features newcomer Alan Drake, The Darjeeling Limited's Amara Karan and Legally Blonde the Musical's Sheridan Smith.

Sonic Youth will mark the 20th anniversary of their seminal tour documentary 1991: The Year Punk Broke by finally releasing the movie on DVD on September 6th. The film, which was directed by Dave Markey while the New York art punks toured European festivals with a pre-fame Nirvana, the Ramones, Dinosaur Jr. and Babes in Toyland in 1991, has been out of print for years.

All of the footage in The Year Punk Brokehas been restored and remastered, and the disc will come along with 65 minutes of previously unreleased bonus material shot during the tour. The new footage will include Nirvana performing "In Bloom" and Sonic Youth tearing through "White Cross," "Eric's Trip" and "Inhuman."

Rolling stone.

Edward Norton to play 'Bourne' Villain

Edward Norton seems set to sign on to play the villian in the new Jason Bourne movie, The Bourne Legacy. As reported by Variety the role is still in negotiation, but it is believed that director Tony Gilroy wants a big name in the villain corner to go up against The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner.

The film will not feature the Jason Bourne character but rather Renner will play a Bourne-like agent, embroiled in the same world of espionage.

The film's director Tony Gilroy - who replaces Paul Greengrass who in turn replacedDoug Liman - was the screenwriter for the first three Bourne movies, and will again pen The Bourne Legacy. He directed the George Clooney movie Michael Clayton. Rachel Weisz is also on signed to the movie.

Evil Dead remake confirmed

Rumours that Sam Raimi's cult horror film The Evil Dead remake have been confirmed. Horror movie site Bloody Disgusting has reported that the fourth instalment will not be a continuation of the third film Army of Darkness, released in 1992, but rather a remake of Raimi's original. Federico Alvarez,  Panic Attack, is billed to direct.
Work on the film is said to have begun in Detroit, with long-term Raimi collaborater Bob Murawski commenting that it will be "a small indie thing, like the first two". Bruce Campbell, who played demon-hunter Ashley "Ash" Williams in the trilogy, is not expected to appear. Some fan sites have suggested that Ash may become a female character in Alvarez's version.
Talking about the remake on Twitter, Campbell said: "Believe in the remake dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell."

Thanks to The Guardian for the scoop

Melancholia

I had avoided Antichrist 2 years ago but I must say that the new movie from Danish director Lars Von trier seems rather tempting.
Even if I cannot really believe in the duet Dunst & Gainsbourg as sisters....

Bet the whole casting will set foot on the red carpet in Cannes next month.
In theaters october 2011

Mr Nice or how to become the rogue welshman ?

Also starring Chloe Sevigny and David Thewlis, Mr Nice makes for 120 minutes of a very British tale of a drug empire built by accident.
Quite an  interesting story line for our next trip to the cinema.
